Welcome to Peristera

Welcome to my new blog about building Peristera.

Setup

I created this page with the help of this astro tutorial. There are a few things to customize, but I wanted to get started quickly. I’ve used Astro for a few other hobbies and am always amazed at how well it works. I remember the whole webpack craze, so this is a breath of fresh air.

What’s next?

I’m working my way through Philipp Oppermann’s OS in Rust, the unreleased version 3. I’m amazed at what he’s done - it seems kind of counterintuitive to build a kernel on dependencies, but this is what real democratization of knowledge should be like, I guess. Imagine, everyone building their kernel based on these Rust crates, customizing only what sets their OS appart.

Right now I’m hesitant to post any of this, but I guess everyone can see it in the git logs anyway, so stay tuned for a link to the repo. Also, I’m hoping to contribute to the Rust OS Dev project as soon as I can implement my own ideas. It would be cool to be able to boot from ARM and RISC V, for example, by creating the bootloader - we’ll see.

That’s it for now, wish me luck. :)
